Red Thread Charities was founded to improve the lives of children living in orphanages and foster homes in China.

  • Ningbo Enmei Children's Welfare Institute

    RTC began work with Ningbo Enmei Children's Welfare Institute (Ningbo) in October 2012. When we began working with them, they had an orphanage school and therapy in place. We are working with them to enhance their programs.

    The city of Ningbo is a seaport city in the northeast of Zhejiang province. The city of Ningbo has a population of over 7 million. It is one of China’s oldest cities, with a history dating back to 4800 B.C. It was a once a trade city on the silk road and is now a port for foreign trade.

  • Hangzhou Children's Welfare Institute

    RTC began work with Hangzhou Children's Welfare Institute (HZCWI) in October 2009. HZCWI is a prominent orphanage in the province since it is located in the capital.  They are leading the way in their therapy and special education programs and have begun training staff at other orphanages in the province.

    The city of Hangzhou is located in east central China and is the capital of Zhejiang province. The city of Hangzhou has a population of over 12,000,000. Hangzhou is known for the beautiful West Lake area and Dragonwell tea. Hangzhou was the capital of the Song Dynasty for 153 years, from 1123 to 1276.

  • Lanxi Social Welfare Institute

    RTC began working with Lanxi Social Welfare Institute in October 2006. With the help of Red Thread Charities’ medical experts and therapists, the orphanage was able to place many children with special needs in adoptive homes. Our program at Lanxi ended in 2009.

    Lanxi is located in east central China in Zhejiang province, a three hour drive southwest of Hangzhou. The city of Lanxi has a population of 660,000 and is famous for orchids, the Lanjiang River and ham.

     

  • Guiping Social Welfare Institute

    RTC began working with Guiping Social Welfare Institute in March of 2007. In April of 2009, our partnership with Guiping officially ended and they are continuing on their own with the therapy and special education programs started with RTC.

    Guiping is located in southwestern China in Guangxi province, a seven hour drive west of Guangzhou. The city of Guiping has a population of 1,000,000 and is known for green tea grown on the top of West Mountain and taro which is used in many Chinese medicines.
